A Nomad Design Exhibition in the Swiss Alps

Feb 8, 2018

This week, St. Moritz becomes more than a winter destination for skiers: it’s also the site of Nomad, a travelling event for collectible design from some of the world’s leading galleries

Here’s an idea for an exhibition space backdrop: place collectible design items from some of Europe and the United States’ leading galleries against a breathtaking natural location, like the Swiss Alps.

That’s the gist of Nomad St. Moritz.

The travelling event —it started in the spring of 2017 with a stint in Monaco— will take place starting today at the Chesa Planta. The mansion, built in 1595, is a testament to the tastes of the Engadin aristocracy.

Nomad creators Giorgio Pace and Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte added even more to the unusual experience: apart from the performative dinners in private houses and private visits to selected cultural institutions in the region, the exhibition also presents immersive installations and performances.

The participating galleries are:
+ Apalazzo Gallery (Brescia)
+ Almine Rech Gallery (Paris – London – New York – Brussels)
+ Carwan Gallery (Beirut)
+ Casati Gallery (Chicago)
+ Charles Burnand (London)
+ David Gill Gallery (London)
+ Demisch Danant (New York – Paris)
+ Étage Projects (Copenhagen)
+ Galerie BSL (Paris)
+ Gallery FUMI (London)
+ Galerie Eva Presenhuber (Zurich)
+ Galleria Luisa Delle Piane (Milan)
+ Giustini/Stagetti (Rome)
+ Maniera (Brussels)

+ Parkett Editions (Zurich – New York)
+ Priveekollektie (London – Heusden)
